Select Versions

Main:

This is the main reference on which searches will be performed. If you choose the Parallel Frames option below, the main reference will appear int he left column.

Cf:

This is your cross-reference, or parallel, text. When the Parallel Frames option is selected, this text appears in the right column. If you do not select the Parallel Frames option, you may access this text by clicking the book and chapter listed at the top of the main reference text. For example, clicking the John 1 portion of the John 1 [ Previous ] [ Next ] heading, will open a popup window containing the parallel text.

Search Method

Scripture:

Type your reference in the box and click the submit button. You may display multiple verses by typing "John 3:16,John 5:24" (without quotes). For example, "John 3:16-19,John 5" would return verses 16 through 19 of John chapter 3 and the entirety of chapter 5.

* Be sure to include the colon (:) between chapters and verses.
* There is no space before or after the comma.

Keyword:

Type a keyword or phrase in the box and click the Submit button to display the results. The results are not case sensitive. "Jesus Christ" (without quotes) will return all verses where this phrase appears (141 in the ASV). However, if two (or more) keywords are separated by a plus ( i.e. Jesus+Christ ), the script will search each verse for both words regardless of word order (237 in the ASV).

The keyword search matches any part of a word. For example "baptism" will match baptism and baptisms; 21 results. Following that, "bapti" returns 88 results including baptism, Baptist, baptize, baptized, etc.

You may also exclude words by using a "-" character. For example, "peter+said -john" (without quotes) will return all verses with Peter and said yet EXCLUDE those verses if the word John appears. You may exclude multiple words by separating them with a comma (i.e. -exclude+these+words)

Options

English Font Size:

You may adjust the size of the English font by typing the desired value in the box or by clicking the Up and Down arrows.

Greek Font Size:

You may adjust the size of the Greek font by typing the desired value in the box or by clicking the Up and Down arrows. (We are currently using the Windows Symbol font mosts Greek texts. However, this means no accents. To view the accencted text, you will need to download the font. Go to the main site and click the "Download the Greek Font" button. This text is completely parsed as well! Check below for details.)

Paragraph View:

Each verse is displayed in a separate paragraph.

Parallel Frames:

This option splits the screen in half vertically. The main text is displayed on the left side of the screen while the selected cross reference appears on the right.

Transliterate:

With this option on, Greek texts (expect the parsed text) will be transliterated to their English equivalents.

Hot Links:

This option makes every word in every verse a Keyword link. For example, if you see the word "faith" in a verse and would like to find out where else this word appears, all you have to do is click on the word "faith."

Parse:

This option applies to the parsed GNT only. The Hot Links option for the GNT is ignored when parsing is on. Instead of each word being a searchable link, each word is keyed to a separate database. By clicking the word, a another window will open and display the lexical form, the inflected form, Stong's definition, and a tag explaining how the word is functioning in the sentence (i.e. N---NSF is a noun, nominative case, singular, feminine gender). Click on the lexical form to perform a concordance search.
